Rules and Regulations Regarding the Comprehensive Exam for the Master
in Computer Science
- Comprehensive examinations for the Masters in Computer Science are offered during the spring and fall semesters.
- During the last semester of course work, the graduate committee will conduct the comprehensive examination of the candidate.
- The comprehensive exam will cover material from
the 500 level core courses (CS541, CS543, CS544, CS549). An outline of topics
and a reading list will be provided to the student.
- Comprehensive exams may cover any or all of the content of these courses, even if the material wasn't explicitly covered when the course was taken.
- If a candidate fails the test, the candidate must
take a second test during the semester in
which the examination was originally attempted.
- If the student fails the second attempt, they will be granted one more
opportunity in a later semester. If the candidate does
not succeed in this third try
at passing the exam, the candidate will not receive a Masters in Computer
Science from Western Kentucky University.
